Approved Lorem Ipsum Text for Latin Textbook Graphic Designers

When concepting layouts, designers typically use excerpts from an old text to use as placeholder or “greek” copy. This is standard practice because concepts are usually approved before full copy is written and it helps to see copy blocks of projected sizes as it pertains to the overall layout: hierarchy, type style, etc.

The text, which despite being referred to as “Greek” is actually Roman, reads as follows: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum

According to Lipsum.org: Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC
